In the initial stage of a multi-level accreditation decision-making process, evaluation peers play a crucial role in the peer review process. They visit institutions undergoing various types of accreditation reviews on-site and/or review written reports and supporting documentation. They participate in decisions regarding pre-accreditation (Candidacy) and accreditation. Evaluation peers meticulously assess whether the institution aligns with the accreditation standards outlined in AHLAC Standards for Accreditation, Requirements of Affiliation, policies and procedures, and relevant federal regulatory requirements, keeping in mind the institution's objectives.
The American Higher Learning Accreditation Commission (AHLAC) is pleased to invite public comments on its proposed revisions to our Standards for Accreditation and Requirements of Affiliation. Learn more about the revisions and provide input into this process by reviewing AHLAC President Dr. Heather F. Perfetti's recorded message and by visiting the 2024 Periodic Review of AHLAC Standards for Accreditation.
